‘The Defenders’ Air Date, Spoilers, News & Update: Working Title Revealed; Theme of Series Teased? Characters, More Plot Details Revealed

Netflix is slowly building up the story of Hell's Kitchen superheroes in the upcoming Marvel series, "The Defenders." Fans saw Matt Murdock in "Daredevil" first, followed by superheroine-turned-private-eye Jessica Jones, and then Luke Cage, who made his debut just last month. Iron Fist will also star in his own show and soon, "The Defenders" will meet together to fight crime.

When it comes to plot details about "The Defenders," the production and the network are keeping mum. Netflix is still preparing for the release of the next Marvel series in the lineup, "Iron Fist," which makes its debut in March 2017. However, a piece of information about "The Defenders" has surfaced and it somehow gave a hint about what this show would bring to the table.

As spotted in Production Weekly, "The Defenders" is said to have the working title "Group Therapy." According to ComicBook, the working title could give some hints as to what topics that series would tackle. Based on the title, it's likely that "The Defenders" will gather together for a tell-all session and each one of them will say something about their past or secrets. Although a get-together of this sort would seem less likely, it can't be denied that the Hell's Kitchen vigilantes - despite their strength and remarkable abilities - still have emotions and they could use some talk time to ease the burden on their shoulders.

Meanwhile, it was already confirmed that Sigourney Weaver will play an important role in "The Defenders." Apart from Charlie Cox (Daredevil), Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Finn Jones (Iron Fist), Weaver will be part of the superhero series but she's on team villain. The confirmation was made at the New York Comic Con early this month. Weaver's character has not been revealed but given that she's a villain, it is expected that the veteran actress will portray it superbly.

With only little teasers for "The Defenders," it is expected that speculations will start to surface. The Marvel series is likely to arrive later in 2017 so stay tuned to GamenGuide for more updates.
