Nintendo Switch Release Date, News & Update: Home, Portable Console To Run By Less Powerful Chip? Docking Unit Not Additional Storage

Nintendo Switch has been finally seen by the fans through an interesting trailer provided by the company. Prior to this, the idea about the device was only revealed through months of speculations and rumors.  In fact, one of the rumors claimed that the new console would be both a portable and a home device.

Based on the Nintendo Switch trailer, the new console is shown as one that can be used as a portable gaming device outside or inside the home. The users only have to "switch" out its side controllers to the second screen to take it outside.  The new device also allows two players with detachable symmetrical controllers. However, there was no indication of the price and exact release date in the video.

Nintendo Switch was previously rumored to be a secondary device for likely featuring a less powerful chip. Based on a previous leak some weeks ago, the new console is reported to run the NVIDIA Tegra chip only. This means that there would likely be no tough AAA games coming to Switch. In fact, the first game to be included in the console is Ubisoft's "Just Dance 2017" instead of something massive like the new "Watchdogs 2".

However, the new Nintendo Switch appears to get support from big names in the video gaming industry. EA and Activision are just two of the several companies that are reported to support the new console, according to a report.

Meantime, Nintendo confirmed that the docking unit of the new console is used to get the games onto the big screen, and not to give additional storage nor performance features to the tablet. According to the company, the main unit is the one that has the LCD screen where the pair of Joy-Con controllers can be connected and disconnected from. This means that the dock is not the tablet's main console unit, since its function is to give an output to the TV, including the charging and power to the system, The Verge reported.
