Sports cameras are slowly becoming essentials rather than luxuries for people who live outdoorsy, adventurous lives. As such, it's only expected that companies up their game for best action camera available in the market. Right now, it's a head to head battle between the GoPro Hero 5, manufactured by the current king of sports cameras, GoPro, and newcomer Xiaomi YI 2 4k Action Camera.

The GoPro Hero 5 has greatly improved from its predecessor, the GoPro Hero 4. The new 2-inch, rugged + waterproof sports camera packs 4k resolution capacity and can even go up to 8k, and can also record 30 to 60 frames per second with its 12-megapixel camera. It also boasts an advanced video stabilization, which is amped up by Snapdragon 800.

Not to be outdone, the Xiaomi Yi 2 4k Action Camera uses a Sony IMX377 12-megapixel camera, which allows it to shoot 4k as well. It's capable of shooting from a range of 30 to 120 frames per second, and can also capture time lapse videos, and shooting photos while on video mode. The Xiaomi Yi 2 4k Action Camera is juiced with a longer battery life, with 1400mAh as compared to GoPro Hero 5's 1160 mAh.
