It is confirmed that "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" will be more than just a spinoff as it will be featuring five full length movies. This also means that viewers will get to see a lot of familiar faces all throughout the franchise after all, it's in the same universe as Harry Potter. Among those familiar faces, fans have been anticipating the appearance of Gindelwald, which was briefly seen in a flashback scenes from part one of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," wherein Jamie Campbell Bower took on the role.
Cosmopolitan reports that director David Yates has revealed at a "Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them" fan event that Grindelwald is featured in the background. Apparenthly, he is going to become a much more prominent presence as events in the series progress.
This statement was corroborated by no other than creator JK Rowling herself, who said that they do talk about Dumbledore and Grindelwald. These revelations could have fans having their fingers crossed for what is about to come for "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."
Grindelwald has not been very visible in the "Harry Potter" franchise and very little is known about the character except that he was very close with Dumbledore at one point and shared romantic feelings for each other before. While "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" is focused on protagonist Newt Scamander, it is still expected to showcase rich elements from the Harry Potter franchise which heavily includes Dumbledore and Grindelwald.
Metro reports that while fans are anticipating how "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" will show another angle of Harry Potter, rumors are also in that Jamie Campbell will reprise his role for the new series. As both the director and the creator of Harry Potter have confirmed that the upcoming series will expound on his character, fans are already expecting to see Campbell Bower on the big screen again.
These recent announcements have had Harry Potter fans hoping to see more about Dumbledore and Grindelwald and how they were when they were younger. Rowling had even revealed that there are ways in which they connect to the Harry Potter books that readers and viewers will find surprising.
