"The Winds of Winter" fans are on the edge of their seats waiting for the exact release date. However, a lot of speculations have dampened the excitement, particularly of one saying that the manuscript of the sixth title was lost.

The pragmatic writer remains unfazed though with all the cancellation and boycott rumors. In fact, he reportedly confirmed that he will be releasing "The Winds of Winter" - his rumored last book -- on 2017.

George R.R. Martin To Release 'The Winds Of Winter' On 2017?

Despite the many threats to boycott "Game of Thrones" season 7 to avoid any spoilers, George R.R. Martin reportedly confirms the sixth title for "A Song of Ice and Fire" series will be released in 2017. However, "The Winds of Winter" may his last work.

Previous reports claim that the renowned writer is tired of clearing out the rumors, making him more than happy to end the book series with "The Winds of Winter." The book is expected to be released after "Game of Thrones" season 7 wraps up.

Also, the main reason that "Game of Thrones" season 7 was delayed in filming was because of "The Winds of Winter" release date. In order to avoid spoilers, producers of the HBO series need to move the air date as to avoid major arcs from "The Winds of Winter." George R.R. Martin was initially angry when the producers released clips that could spoil "The Winds of Winter."

'The Winds of Winter' Delay Causes Backfire?

In other earlier reports, "The Winds of Winter" should have been released in December 2015. However, for unknown reasons, the sixth title of the book was yet delayed until early of 2017.

This prompted many fans to boycott "Game of Thrones" season 7. With the news that "The Winds of Winter" is going to be released after "GOT" season 7, will fans encourage others to boycott the series as well?

While these reports could be true, it should be noted that all of these are mere speculations. Fans are advised to wait until George R.R. Martin or the producers of "GOT" season 7 should release an official statement.

"The Winds of Winter" was initially set out to be released January 2017. But there hasn't been any announcement on whethter the initial "The Winds of Winter" release date will be pushed back or not.
