'Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon' Teased, April Fools' Day Continues [TRAILER]

Reading the official description of the alleged DLC, coupled with the newly released trailer, it's obvious there's something up with this DLC:

"The year is 2007. It is the future. Earth has been ravaged by a nuclear war and new paths for peace must be found. A U.S. cyborg army may have found a solution: a powerful bioweapon on a distant island. A Mark IV Cyber Commando, Sergeant Rex Power Colt has been sent over to gather information and figure out what the hell is going on."

The description, the bright neon colors and "Tron" looking background, it all reeks of 80's.

OK, so maybe it's some kind of arcade game that Vaas and crew would play when they weren't busy murdering locals and kidnapping tourists? Think again. It's when you go to the game's official page that suspicions are confirmed.

Winner of 9.5 stars from Rotten Potatoes, the gifs ripped from a geocities homepage, and of course, the vinyl soundtrack. Everything about the site shows that a fair amount of effort went into this grandiose April Fools' Day gag, which is respectable, but at the same time disappointing. I was happy to see that some of my personal favorite developers were reuniting to work on "Blood Dragon," namely Alexis Graveyard, Roberto Kinky, and legendary art director Supreme Ninja. Of course, with DJ's going under names like DeadMau5, this could almost register as plausible.

The director's interview was an especially nice touch. The awful movie names listed in the resume, horrendous comb over in his publicity shots, it all reeks of washed rind cheese, and I love it.

After the trophy leak, I can't help but still be curious if a legitimate DLC will come from all of this, or if it was all part of the eleaborate planning process. If that proves to be true, while I got a good laugh out of this "unveiling," and respect the dedication, I'm still sad that nothing's coming to extend my experience in the Rook Islands.
