'Chicago Fire' Season 5 Spoilers: Dawson's Mistake May Cost Man His Life; Stella Saves Kid From Burning Tunnel

It seems to be business as usual for the firefighters of "Chicago Fire" as they continue to do their duties even after losing Jimmy (Steven R. McQueen) in the team last episode. He sustained injuries while helping the victims of a car accident. Jimmy was injured enough for him not to be able to work anymore.

In the first episode of "Chicago Fire" Season 5 without Jimmy, Dawson (Monica Raymund) will try to save a young man's life together with Shay (Laurie German) according to Cartermatt. The video promo for "Scorched Earth" shows the man appearing to be having a heart attack. As his family and other onlookers watch anxiously, Dawson and Shay try their best to save him.

In the ensuing scene however, the mother of the young man stops the two from performing their life saving measures and instead accuses them of not knowing what they are doing. This may have something to do with the teaser in the video promo of the "Chicago Fire" episode revealing that a mistake by Dawson could cause the young man his life.

Aside from the obviously intense moment with Dawson and Shay's complicated case, Stella (Miranda Rae Mayo) will find herself in an equally challenging situation in the same "Chicago Fire" episode. She will try to save an ill kid who is trapped in a tunnel fire. According to the official synopsis of the episode, she will use all the resources available to her in order to bring the kid to safety.

Meanwhile, as his colleagues are going through difficult cases in episode 3 of "Chicago Fire" Season 5, Severide (Taylor Kinney) will be seen enjoying himself as he considers traveling in style with his rich party guy friend Travis Brenner (Scott Elrod).

The co-creator of "Chicago Fire" Michael Brandt explained to shocked fans what happened to Jimmy and his unexpected exit from the series reports The Hollywood Reporter . He said that just like real life, everybody is not expected to always come out cleanly and safely from certain situations. According to him, that has always been something that the show always tried to balance with and deliver to the audience.

Brandt added that Jimmy went out fighting for what he believes in, which even Chief Boden (Eamonn Walker) respects. He also went on to say that there are no plans to bring back Jimmy to the show as of now. New "Chicago Fire" episodes air Tuesdays on NBC.
