‘Gwent: The Witcher Card Game’ Release Date, Latest News & Updates: Closed Beta Begins; How To Sign Up & Win

CD Projekt Red announced that the "Gwent: The Witcher Card Game" closed beta will commence on Oct. 25, 2016. "Gwent" is the full version of the card game in "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt."

PlayGwent.com revealed that the "Gwent: The Witcher Card Game" closed beta will be playable on both Xbox One and PC, starting on October 25 at 7 p.m. CEST or 12 p.m. Central Time. It also means that players only have little time to sign up before "Gwent" officially launches.

Interested "Gwent: The Witcher Card Game" players can register on the official "Gwent" website. The invites to the "Gwent" closed beta will be done in waves, so players may receive these on different dates. Registration will still be available after the beta starts. CD Projekt Red did not indicate how long the beta will run.

Earlier in 2016, CD Projekt Red confirmed that "Gwent: The Witcher Card Game" was in the works, a standalone version of the in-game card game in "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt." The closed beta was initially scheduled to launch in September 2016, but was delayed for a month. Now, fans are invited to join the beta to provide their feedback and help improve the full version.

GameRant reported that "Gwent: The Witcher Card Game" will be different from the in-game version. The title will feature cross-play, allowing players on various platforms to challenge each other.

The core mechanics and visuals will also be enhanced. There are single-player and multiplayer modes in "Gwent: The Witcher Card Game" as well. According to the website, there is only one "Gwent," but there are several factions to choose from, namely the Skellige, Monsters, Northern Realms and Scoia'tael. The Nilfgaard will also be arriving in the future.

"Gwent" players can build and develop their decks according to their specific playstyle. The card game also includes a game board, divided into several areas.

The "Gwent: The Witcher Card Game" battlefield has three rows - Melee, Ranged and Siege, which will be filled with cards. Players have to win two out of three games to be victorious. Players can reportedly learn how to play "Gwent" in at least 15 minutes. CD Projekt Red is expected to announce the official launch date of the main game soon.
