'Civilization 6' News & Updates: Apple Users Can Now Enjoy The Game? Firaxis Releases Mac Version?

It's been historically hard to play PC games on a Mac, with relatively fewer support for the platform. Not to worry, however, as "Civilization 6" developer Firaxis has put the game out on the Mac only three days after it officially released for PC.

According to 9 to 5 Mac, "Civilization 6" on the Mac will require a 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5 processor, 6 GB of RAM, and 15 GB of free space on your hard drive. As for a graphics processor, at least a Radeon HD 6790, NVIDIA GeForce 775M, or Intel Iris Pro with 1 GB of VRAM is required if you want to play a pretty game. Most new iMac and MacBook Pro models will be up to the task of running the game.

Right now, Mac users can only get "Civilization 6" on Steam for $59.99 for the regular edition or $79.99 for the deluxe version. Publisher 2K Games is still trying to work with Apple on getting it available on the App Store, but there's no target date for its availability -- only that it will be available soon. There's no need to worry, as Apple generally puts a premium on accessibility for its apps, but it's not hard to get Steam for the Mac as well.

"Civilization 6" has been getting rave reviews in the few days it's been out for play. GameSpot's own review highlights all the refreshing gameplay improvements on a 20-year-old video game franchise. "Civilization 6" encourages more active decision-making, reinventing the way cities are built in the game, and eventually stopping you from falling into the usual rut that is the case during the late game. After two decades, the game is still addictive as ever, and Mac players can now get a taste of what PC players have been experiencing for the past few days.
