No Competitive Multiplayer For 'Thief,' New Screenshots Hit

Eidos is sticking to the solitary shadows when it comes to the developer's new "Thief."

The studio tells Eurogamer during a preview event earlier today that while there are plans for the game to have some kind of online component, "there is no plan" for competitive multiplayer, says producer Stephane Roy.

"We are looking to see if there is maybe a challenge mode with some online component, but I'm going to be very honest with you - our main goal with this team is to give you the best single-player experience, just to bring back this franchise, to convince you we're part of the future and not something holding onto the past."

The emphasis on single player follows Eidos' work on the "lackluster" multiplayer aspect for "Tomb Raider," as well as the lack of DLC for the game's single player mode.

Whether you find the news negative or positive, there is something that surely everyone can agree is a good thing, namely new screenshots. Eidos has a virtual buffet of shots showing Garrett in various acts of mischef, murder, and mayhem, in both first and third-person perspectives. Check 'em out below.

"Thief" is slated for release for PC, PS4 and the next Xbox sometime in 2014.
