"Once Upon a Time" Season 6 has introduced new fairytale characters and storyline, which keeps the show interesting. There have been so many changes from season 1 until the current installment that it appears that the series can't run out of stories. However, there are now fears that the stories of different Storybrooke characters will soon come to an end and that the ABC series will not be renewed.
TV audiences have seen longtime fantasy series end their reign on the primetime schedule. The likes of "The Vampire Diaries" and "Teen Wolf" will soon air their final season and there are speculations that "Once Upon a Time" Season 6 could also be the series' last, according to ScreenerTV. But if it's up to showrunners Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, Emma's (Jennifer Morrison) story won't end soon.
"We don't have an end date, but we have an end plan," Horowitz told the publication. "We know how we want to end the show when the time comes." Kitsis also said that the production team is not planning for the end of the series just yet - add that to the loyalty of the fanbase, it's less likely that "Once Upon a Time" Season 6 is the final season. But based on the recent ratings reported by TVLine, the fate of the series is a concern to Storybrooke fanatics.
According to the report, the Sunday timeslot occupants, including "Once Upon a Time" Season 6, have hit their series lows. But this isn't the first time the series dropped its ratings; previous low ratings were not that low for the show to be considered in deep trouble. If indeed "OUAT" comes to an end, Kitsis joked about what could happen to all characters. "I'm thinking they all die," Kitsis said. "The greatest twist we could do is a show about hope becomes the bleakest show ever, so spoiler: they all die."
Meanwhile, "Once Upon a Time" Season 6 continues this Sunday with its sixth episode, titled "Dark Waters." Emma begs Aladdin (Deniz Akdeniz) to reach out to Jasmine (Karen David) and find out the real events that transpired in Agrabah. In the past life, Hook (Colin O'Donoghue) has been taken by Captain Nemo (Farah Tahir). "Once Upon a Time" Season 6 airs on Sundays, 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
