Two million units of Nintendo Switch hardware will be shipped in March 31 because of the present financial guidance according to the CEO of Nintendo, Tatsumi Kimishima. The said number is over one million units less than the initial 3.06 million unit shipment of the Wii U.
To make things clear, the 3.06 million is based on the company's reported Wii U sell-through 44 days after the system was successfully launched in 2012. Nintendo might have probably started selling the Wii U during the holiday season, but it does not imply to make the same move when it comes to the Nintendo Switch. The company plans to sell the all new gaming hardware all across the globe starting March 2017.
It is worthy to note that a shipped Nintendo Switch unit only means hardware being sent to retailers. Therefore, it does not necessarily mean that Nintendo anticipated to market all of the two million units in a snap. Earlier today, the company has modified the expected sales earnings down by 30 billion yen for the financial year as reported by IGN.
More so, Kimishima also pointed out that no announcement on the Nintendo Switch price or specs will be made this year. Previously known as the NX, the Switch was unveiled a week ago and is expected to be released in March 2017.
Meanwhile, last week's trailer of the new Nintendo Switch console has provided fans with a solid overview about its core mechanics. Also, a couple of sources have confirmed about the specs and other capabilities of Switch. These include the capacitive, multi-touch screen, which is 6.2"in size. Also, the screen is a 10-point multitouch, which simply means that it supports multi-finger gestures, according to a report.
