Game Developer 'SEGA' Is Making Games for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Details of the Agreement.

The 2016 Rio Olympics has just ended but it looks like the game developer Sega is on its way again. In 2020, the Olympic Games will be held in Tokyo, Japan and Sega is making games which have been agreed with the licensing unit of the International Olympic Committee.

Sega said in a statement that they went after the license because the Olympic Games have a global appeal that "draws everyone's attention" and is well-suited for the job because of its "accumulated experience and knowhow," GameSpot reported.

Handheld, mobile, console, online, and arcade would be the new Tokyo Olympic Games. This is not the first time that Sega would create games for the Olympics. Sega has made games for the Beijing 2008, London 2012, and Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games and the Vancouver 2010 and Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games and all titles are in Mario & Sonic series.

"It is truly an honor for us to be granted this Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 sub-license from International Sports Multimedia," said Sega CEO Haruki Satomi. International Sports Multimedia (ISM) is a sports marketing and digital media content provider with offices in the USA and Europe operating in 3 distinct areas - entertainment software, fantasy sports and digital signage. For almost 20 years, it has built and operated fantasy sport games for using in-house proprietary software.

ISM CEO Raymond Goldsmith also added that Sega's video games will help "support the global appeal of Tokyo 2020." Sega Games Co., Ltd., or Service Games officially known as SEGA, is a Japanese multinational video game developer and publisher headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. It was founded by American businessmen Martin Bromley, Irving Bromberg, James Humpert and David Rosen in 1940.

Sega is the world's most prolific arcade producer with over 500 games in over 70 franchises on more than 20 different arcade system boards since 1981. The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games runs from July 24 to Aug. 09, 2020.
