‘Kingdom Hearts’ News & Updates: New Opening Movie for ‘Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue ‘0.2: Birth by Sleep – A Fragmentary Passage’

Square Enix recently launched a new opening movie for "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue - 0.2: Birth by Sleep - A Fragmentary Passage," which is set to release in December 2016. "Kingdom Hearts 2.8" will include a full HD remaster of "Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance 3DS," "Kingdom Hearts 0.2," and a movie that features major backstory events.

Siliconera revealed that Square Enix featured a new promotional video for "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue." The opening movie for "Kingdom Hearts 0.2: Birth by Sleep" is currently available online.

"Kingdom Hearts 0.2: Birth by Sleep" is a completely new experience. It focuses on the adventures of Aqua in the Realm of Darkness between "Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep Final Mix" and "Kingdom Hearts III." In the story, Aqua goes through an environment inspired by a fragmented version of Cinderella's world.

Polygon stated that Square Enix is releasing "Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 Remix" to celebrate the series' 15 years in the business in March 2017. The upcoming collection will showcase six remastered titles for PlayStation 4, namely "Kingdom Hearts," "Kingdom Hearts 2," "Birth by Sleep," "Re: Chain of Memories," "358/2 Days" and "Re:coded."

The Remix collection will let fans of the franchise play almost every game in the series on PlayStation 4. In the trailer, "Kingdom Hearts" fans will notice how the games have been graphically enhanced. The characters, effects and environment obviously looked better, although it is still unconfirmed whether there will be gameplay changes.

"Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue" is set to launch in Japan on Jan. 12, 2017 in Japan, and on January 24 in North America and Europe. "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8" was originally scheduled to arrive in December 2016, as announced at Tokyo Game Show 2016.

But subsequent news stated that the launch has been delayed at a later date. "Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 Remix" will arrive on Mar. 28, 2017, 15 years after the original title launched in 2002. The launch date of "Kingdom Hearts 3" has yet to be announced. More updates and details are expected soon.
