'Flashback' Re-make Coming To PlayStation Network And Xbox Live Arcade [TRAILER]

Since they're already going retro with "Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon," Ubisoft figured they might as well keep with the old-school theme.

The adventure-platformer "Flashback" is 20 years old this year, and to celebrate, the developer is releasing an updated version of the game with 3D rendering and HD visuals. Responsible for the remake is the game's original director, Paul Cuisset, who is ensuring everything will be completely polished and refined.

Given it's age, a lot of gamers may not be familiar with the game, but it was originally introduced on the Amiga in '92 before being ported to a whole slew of systems, including the Sega Genesis, SNES, Apple, and PC. It featured "Prince of Persia" (the original mind you) style gameplay with a sci-fi theme involving an alien invasion.

According to a press release, "Conrad is back to save humanity from an invasion of alien Morphs set on absorbing our minds and incorporating our species! Rolling and shooting, always ready for another fight, help Conrad save the world and his girlfriend. You'll find everything you always liked in this classic that set standards of the genre in the 90's, and brought up to speed with the 21st century technology and expectations."

Younger audiences may not like the game's slower action compared to today's fast paced games, but it did help define the action/adventure genre. Take a peek at the trailer below to see what the game has to offer.

An official release date hasn't been given, but the game is expected sometime this year.
