'Minecraft's' First Look At Armored Horses, More Difficulties Incoming

Mojang, developer of "Minecraft", is readying their horses for combat. Quite literally.

After dropping the hint that horses were coming to the PC version of "Minecraft," Mojang's lead "Minecraft" developer Jens "Jeb" Bergenstern on Thursday announced via Twitter that players will be able to deck out their equine buddies in armor, and keep them tethered to fence posts so they don't run off.

If horse armor is anything like player armor, you'll be able to ensure your trusty steed is blinged out with diamond and gold, whether you want them geared for battle or just to look good. Mojang hasn't released the intracacies of horse armor, so don't take this as a guarantee.

Players can expect horses in the new update, and they'll need them, because if developer Nathan "Dinnerbone" Adams gets his way, the longer you stay in an area, the harder things'll get. Adams tweeted that he was toying with the "concept of regional difficulty," but it's not balanced yet.

An official release date for the update hasn't been mentioned, though the team was hoping to have it ready for May.
