‘Prince of Persia: The Shadow and the Flame’ Set To Be Remade For Mobile Platform [TRAILER]

Ubisoft is remaking “Prince of Persia: The Shadow and the Flame” for smartphones and tablets. “The Shadow and the Flame” is developer Broderbund's 1993 sequel to the original “Prince of Persia.”

The new remake will feature upgraded graphics and improved sound, alongside the option of two control methods – virtual buttons and a gesture-based interface. Ubisoft Pune, the studio behind “Prince of Persia” Classic HD, is currently handling development duties for the game.

“Prince of Persia” creator Jordan Mechner has also confirmed on his personal blog that the new game will not just be a direct port of the original MS-DOS version, and the mobile version "will feature updated graphics, sound and touch controls in the spirit of Prince of Persia Classic,” The original classic title was released on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network (and later on iOS and Android).

“'Prince of Persia: The Shadow and The Flame' continues the incredible storytelling of the original trilogy while incorporating redesigned controls, graphics and gameplay with the convenience of a mobile device,” according to Ubisoft's press release.

“Fans of the original Prince of Persia series will be thrilled to discover five beautifully rendered environments, each with their own unique mood and landscape.”

The new game will have 15 different levels, elemental powers, three types of attacks and over 25 weapons with special abilities to defeat brand-new enemies in the extensive in-game universe.

However, there's no word yet on which mobile platforms the game will work on. The release only says the game is "coming soon on smartphones and tablets." The only real question here is if the game will support any other operating system apart from Android and iOS, like Windows Phone and BlackBerry.
