“Black Mesa” gained a lot of attention when it debuted last year though there were some noticeable parts missing. The fan-made “Half-Life” remaster project lacked the Xen areas which were known to be key parts of the game’s final portion.
Knowing that oversight, it looks like the developers behind “Black Mesa” have taken note and are all set to address that with a redesigned version of Xen, GameSpot reported. The target release date of the lacking areas is reportedly set for the Summer of 2017.
With 2016 coming to an end soon, the wait for the updates for “Black Mesa” should be manageable. Crowbar Collective went on record to detail how they were hard at work to release Xen after initially focusing on porting to make the game perform better. Aside from Xen, the game developer bared that they also plan to release more features to make the game enjoyable and memorable, according to an announcement from the Steam site.
Going by the numbers, Crowbar Collective believes that there is 15 percent of “Black Mesa” that will allow them to recreate Xen and deliver more features for the third-party remake of “Half-Life”. For those who are interested, “Black Mesa” can be purchased from Steam right now for just $8 (from an original price of $20) thanks to a special Halloween special offer.
Though a remake, “Black Mesa” will have to do for now as most continue to hope for a “Half-Life 3”. Valve has not made any announcement on whether one would come out though most are awaiting bread crumbs tied up to alleged leaked game codes have started something.
