PlayStation Dualshock 4 Latest News and Updates: Support Now Available on Steam; How to Get Beta Release

The PlayStation DualShock 4 Controller now has a support on Steam. The availability came a month after Valve made the announcement of this support during the Steam Dev Days Conference.

Available in beta version, the update can be availed by going to the Account tab on Steam, checking the updates portion and downloading it. There is still no word when it will be available mainstream but there is a high possibility.

Update features and highlights

The update allows players to map templates and options like the trackpad, keyboard, mouse and other menus. There will also be more Dual Shock 4 options under the Big Picture menu/settings for players to choose from.

Generally, the update will also fix mods causing incorrect names in your list of friends. The update was also made to see improvements on the patching and download speeds of the game to avoid unnecessary delays when playing.

As for the fixes, Steam will not automatically restart if it suddenly crashes in the middle of streaming the game. For macOS users, a fix for the freeze than happens when getting internal error reports was also added.

New rule on game images

Steam is also set to launch the Discover Update 2.0 a few weeks from now. This will make policy changes concerning the images on the product page of the game. Valve has already asked developers to add screenshots of the game instead of the usual concept art.

"When the 'screenshot' section of a store page is used for images other than screenshots that depict the game, it can make it harder for customers to understand what the product is that they are looking at," Valve explained. It added that it is important for companies to let gamers see how it is to play their game and not just show them concepts or awards.
