Call of Duty: Ghosts: Multiplayer, Storyline And Gameplay Details [VIDEO]

While details about the next Call of Duty game — Call of Duty: Ghosts — remain scant, there have been quite a few leaks around the Web about some in-game features.

As the press release earlier stated, Ghosts is set to deliver “a riveting all-new gameplay experience built on an entirely new story, setting and cast of characters, all powered by a new, next generation Call of Duty engine that redefines the series for the next generation.”

The game engine is said to be created by Infinity Ward.

What this means is that fans who have started assuming by the name Ghosts that the game will see the return of Lieutenant Simon "Ghost" Riley, that’s not going to happen. The Ghosts characters are all new, and although the name suggests it, Ghosts just indicates the masks that soldiers wear.

Meanwhile YouTuber Drift0r has been leaking new information about the game. According to him, and one of the biggest pieces of information, Ghosts will feature an all-new world, story and characters.

He also states that the game will neither be a prequel nor a sequel to the previous Modern Warfare 3 title, and is set in the future (this was expected, anyway), although making use of current generation weapons.

Drift0r, per a Gameranx report, says “the reasons for using older weapons in the future will be facilitated through the game's storyline.” And while this is a bit of an unclear statement, “but Drift0r goes in-depth, citing his own speculative theory which suggests that perhaps the guns will feature some sort of Metal Gear Solid 4-type thumbprint or nano-scanner, forcing the protagonists to use older weapons.”

It has also been stated that Infinity Ward will be getting rid of spawn countdowns and add "dynamic" spawning, although it remains to be seen how that works out for the new game’s multiplayer mode.

Ghosts is currently set to be shown on May 21st, at the Xbox 720 reveal. More information about the game is expected during the reveal.
