"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 is taking a more sinister turn now that the show is on its final season. So far, there isn't any Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) appearing in the episodes since season 8 aired and there are no signs that she's coming back. However, recent reports suggest that Dobrev will return sooner, especially now that the biggest bad in the history of the series, Sybil (Nathalie Kelley) continues with her evil plans using Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey).

It has been revealed that Sybil has a sister but her identity remains a mystery. Speculations are rife that Dobrev's Elena is actually Sybil's sister, which will be revealed in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8. Kelley made sure that she wouldn't reveal who this mysterious sister is.  "I can't really say without giving away who it is - it's such a good plot twist that I don't want to spoil it for you," she said in a recent interview.

In the upcoming episode of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8, the plot synopsis states that Damon will be heading to Texas where he will have a violent confrontation with Peter (Joel Gretsch). This run-in will result to a surprising revelation. Could this revelation have something to do with Elena Gilbert then? Fans will surely know more about Sybil's life because Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Alaric (Matt Davis) will work together to dig up on Sybil's past.

Although some rumors suggest that Elena could be Sybil's sister, Hypable has a different theory. According to the publication, it's also possible that Kelly Donovan (Melinda Clarke) could be the mysterious sister. Though both characters have different abilities, they could be related - close enough to become sisters. Fans will just have to tune in to the next episode of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 to know the big truth. Episode 4, titled "An Eternity of Misery," airs on Nov. 11, 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
