'Pokemon' Sun & Moon News and Updates: Splash Has New High-Powered Moves Called the 'Z-Moves'

In Pokemon, Splash does nothing that people have compared with Magikarp. However, it does something in "Pokemon Sun and Moon". It brings in as what they call it "Z-Moves" which are high-powered moves but can only be used one time per encounter as long as the player has the correct item.

The description in its official site shows: ‘There are two conditions for performing Z-Moves: a Pokémon must learn a move of the same type as a Z-Crystal and it must be holding the corresponding Z-Crystal.'

According to Kotaku, data miners found out that Z-Moves can be paired with standard moves for added effect which includes Splash this time. A pro Pokemon player, @pokemon_PhD posted a short video of a "Z-Splash" boosts a monster's attack a massive three times in a single go. The player said in his post: "little vid of Z-Splash in action just to give you a better idea how Z-status moves work."

In Pokemon, after Splash performs the move, the game says "but nothing happened," but in "Pokemon Sun and Moon", Splash mega-boosts Gyarados that players have formulated. With this, it's possible to have competitive uses for Splash with creatures like Poliwrath, Mimikyu and even the infamous ones like Solgaleo and Lunala.

"Pokemon Sun and Moon" are role-playing video games developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 3DS. Sun and Moon are set to be released worldwide this month commemorating the franchise's 20th anniversary.

"Pokemon Sun and Moon" has a phase in adventure elements, presented in a third-person, overhead perspective. The player controls a young trainer who goes on a quest to catch and train creatures known as Pokémon and win battles against other trainers.

By defeating enemy Pokemon in turn-based battles, the player's Pokemon gains experience, allowing them to level up and increase their battle statistics, learn new battle techniques and in some cases, evolve into more powerful Pokemon.
