Samsung Galaxy Note 8 News, Specs, Release Date: To Come With New AI Features; Returns To Removable Batteries?; Likely Launch at Mobile World Congress

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is believed to come with a new AI feature. But the consumers may have to wait until April to have a first look, as the company is known to follow a trend in launching its new Galaxy devices during the Mobile World Congress in February.

The internal prototypes of the premium Samsung Galaxy S8 include a button on the side edge that may be used to launch a virtual assistant based on artificial intelligence, similar to Apple's Siri. Reports suggest that postponing the launch until after the event could give the Korean-based company ample time to work on the AI feature and the rest of the phone's features. Other reports also indicate that executive vice president Rhee Injong believes in all the potentials of the AI features, as developers will be enabled to upload and attach to this agent.

Meantime, Samsung's caution is likely due to the impact of AI in its long-term business model, which is also encouraged by the Galaxy Note 7 debacle earlier this year.  After losing over $5 billion, the company has been criticized for rushing the production process instead of taking necessary precautions to prevent manufacturing defects. Earlier reports suggest that avoidable punctures in the lithium-ion batteries have caused the smartphone to overheat, Salon reported.

Meanwhile, as tech experts believe that Galaxy Note 8 would be released in February during the Mobile World Congress, or in January at the CES 2017, nothing is confirmed yet about the handset's specs and features. However, rumors claim that the new device is likely to have an Exynos 8895 chipset, a 6GB of RAM and a 4K resolution, including a rear dual camera with 8MP and 16MP sensors. An updated S Pen and fingerprint scanner are also expected to be included. There are also speculations that Samsung may return to the use of removable batteries, according to International Business Times.
