'Harry Potter GO' Release Date, News and Updates: 'Fantastic Beasts' Mobile Game Coming This Week
After the hit game "Pokemon Go," developer Niantic is said to be working on the another title, this time tailored for Harry Potter fans. Rumors are circulating about the possible release of "Harry Potter GO."
Niantic is believed to be targeting die-hard fans of the "Harry Potter" book and movie series which concluded with its last installment in 2011. Though there is still no confirmation from the game developer about the veracity of these rumors, fans are already looking forward to it.
A mockup trailer of "Harry Potter GO" has come out on YouTube making fans more excited about its release. The fan-made clip showed Harry Potter characters moving in an AR world where they hunt beasts, choose their house (Gryffindor, Slytherin) and collect wizarding cards.
Aside from the teaser, there is also reportedly an online petition which asks Niantic to develop the mobile application. Gamers and Harry Potter fans are hoping to see a game patterned after the hit AR game "Pokemon GO."
'Fantastic Beasts' mobile game
While waiting for the realization of this "Harry Potter GO" game, viewers can settle for the upcoming game entitled "Fantastic Beast: Cases From the Wizarding World." It is set to be released on the App Store and Google Play this November 17 to coincide with the air date of the Harry Potter prequel "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."
The game may not be an AR (augmented reality) "Harry Potter" game but it is close to what players are expecting. This app will let gamers go into signature Hogwarts destinations like the Diagon Alley, Leaky Cauldron and Hogsmeade.
Players can also be sorted in the four houses at Hogwarts just like any other wizard. Aside from these, an access to a "Marauder's Map" will also be provided while players explore the Hogwarts castle.
The "Harry Potter GO" concept can still be possible but before the hype is focused on that game, fans of the movie series can first try the "Fantastic Beasts" game. Do you think Niantic should release a "Harry Potter GO" game?
