‘Criminal Minds’ Season 12 Latest News & Updates: Kicked Writer Virgil Williams Speaks Up After Thomas Gibson Issue; Actor Returning to Series?

Fans still feel that "Criminal Minds" Season 12 doesn't feel right without Thomas Gibson and his character, Hotch, around. The original cast member was fired in August after it was reported that he had a physical altercation with writer Virgil Williams. The "Dharma & Greg" alum had said his part about the issue, and recently, Williams broke his silence and shared his side of the story.

"Criminal Minds" Season 12 writer Virgil Williams was hosting a students' interactive workshop in Ghetto Film School Los Angeles, where he was asked about the confrontation with Thomas Gibson, People reported. Williams admitted that writing Gibson's Hotchner out of the story "hasn't been smooth." In the series, Hotchner was sent by the FBI director on a special assignment.

"It was very abrupt. But we tried to do it seamlessly and move on," Williams continued. He added that the team will "keep moving forward," which also means that fans will have to look forward to more compelling stories in "Criminal Minds" Season 12. Williams also shared his side of the story when the alleged kicking happened.

The writer's story matched the one coming from Thomas Gibson's statement, in which he said that there was a line in a particular episode of "Criminal Minds" Season 12 that both argued about. The first confrontation resulted to Gibson walking out; the second one was when the kicking happened. According to Williams, he walked by Gibson and the actor kicked him on the shin. Gibson, on the other hand, had a different statement, saying that the writer was coming towards him. "As he brushed past me, my foot came up and tapped him on the leg," he said back in September.

Meanwhile, there are now rumors that "Criminal Minds" Season 12 will eventually welcome back Thomas Gibson's Aaron Hotchner. The new season is reportedly not doing great with its numbers and the executives are said to bring back Hotch. The Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) chief has always been a fan-favorite and the series isn't just the same without him. Although it would be excellent news to have Hotch back, there hasn't been any form of confirmation yet. Fans should just stay tuned to GamenGuide for more updates.
