‘The Divergent Series: Ascendant’ Cancellation News & Update: Shailene Woodley, Theo James & Miles Teller Not Appearing On The Fourth Instalment?

"The Divergent Series: Ascendant" continues to be surrounded with rumors after Lionsgate failed to announce its plan for the final installment. The cast remains in the dark as to the final plans for the last title, prompting rumors that Shailene Woodley and Theo James may not reprise theirs. Now, another cast seemed to follow their footsteps.

'The Divergent: Ascendant' Cancellation

"The Divergent Series: Ascendant" was rumored to be canceled after the not-so-stellar reception of its predecessor in the box office. GameNGuide previously reported that "The Divergent Series: Ascendant" had a major makeover in their script, adapting the story in a TV movie format.

Portraying Tris in "The Divergent Series: Ascendant," Shailene Woodley has already expressed her dislike towards the idea of adapting the last installment into a TV movie. She wasn't afraid to show her reluctance to reprise her role if Lionsgate decides to develop the film into a TV movie.

Speculations add that not only Shailene Woodley is hesitant to reprise her role in "The Divergent Series: Ascendant" if it will be adapted into a TV movie. Upon hearing of cancellation rumors, Theo James won't be reprising his role as Tris as well.

Miles Teller Joins Shailene Woodley & Theo James

Meanwhile, there are reports circulating that not only the lead actors are planning to boycott "The Divergent Series: Ascendant." Miles Teller is reportedly backing out from the project as well. While Theo James cited his conflicting schedules while he prepares to wed his fiancée Ruth Kearney, the other two actors expressed the same sentiments.

Shailene Woodley and Miles Teller both said that they hadn't signed up for a TV movie. He even admitted that he hated working in the franchise per Cinema Blend. The future of "The Divergent Series: Ascendant" remains bleak as Lionsgate fails to release any official statement regarding the movie.

"The Divergent Series: Ascendant" was initially set to release sometime next year. However, since production hasn't started as of publication, it is highly unlikely that the film will be ever shown at all. Do you agree?
