'The Winds of Winter' Release Date, News & Update: January 2017 Book Launch Delayed? George RR Martin to Protest Donald Trump Win?

The US election results have been met with mixed emotions, even from around the globe. While many of the American citizens are clearly upset with the win of Donald Trump, "A Song of Ice and Fire" author George R. R. Martin has been very vocal about his stand to oppose him. With this, will "The Winds of Winter" still meet its expected release date?

Winter Has Come

In the just concluded US elections, George R.R. Martin has been very outspoken with his support for Hillary Clinton. After the candidate's unsuccessful presidential bid, however, there are now rumors that the author is now holding off on releasing his next book (or books, according to some reports). This now means that G.R.R. Martin will be holding back the release of "The Winds of Winter" and possibly, "A Dream of Spring" as well.

While this may seem a bit too much for the non-political and eager fans of George R.R. Martin's works, this is the novelist's way of protesting Trump's win. "The Winds of Winter" author then took it to his blog to express his dismay over the election results.

"The Winds of Winter" author George R.R. Martin stated that there were no words for everything that happened, and that he thought America was better than this. He even goes to say that Trump is the least qualified candidate to be nominated in a major party for presidency.

"The Winds of Winter" author George R.R. Martin also predicts that he will be the worst president in the US history by January, and will be a perilously unstable pawn in the global stage. In a true "A Song of Ice and Fire" and "Game of Thrones" fashion though, he ended his post with a snide remark- "Winter is coming. I told you so."

Book Launch Delay?

With George R.R. Martin being clearly upset and flustered with the election results, his writing pace of "The Winds of Winter" might be affected. This may once again set back the release of the much anticipated sixth book in the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series.

Currently though, the book is being proofread. There have also been rumors stating that Martin may even release the seventh book, "A Dream of Spring," along with "The Winds of Winter." Still, fans are hoping that Martin continues to release the book in 2017, despite the current situation of the political arena.
