While the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus had just been released in September, many people are already looking forward to the iPhone 8. It is expected to bring in one of the most anticipated technologies-wireless charging. But Apple will reportedly take this innovation a step further.

Wireless Charging...15 Feet Away

Wireless charging technology had been adopted by several smartphone manufacturers lately. Instead of using the age-old connectors in charging the phones, the device is instead placed on top of a plate that emits electrical charges to the compatible smartphone. With Samsung currently leading that market share, Apple definitely does not want to lag behind, this is why the iPhone 8 is set to incorporate the nifty feature.

The upcoming flagship is said to not only integrate this technology, but will significantly enhance it. In a report, Apple is said to be working with a company called Energous. The partnership will then yield a new wireless charging innovation for the iPhone 8. A recent patent by Apple called "Wireless Power Utilization in a Local Computing Environment" then coincides with the report. The patent then describes how a device could be charged with magnetic resonance.

Some, if not all, variants of the iPhone 8 will reportedly sport a particular module that will connect to a transmitter plugged to a wall socket. To take things a lot further, the new charging technology will then allow the phone to be charged as far as 15 feet if there are no physical obstructions. This would then effectively give rise to the truest form of wireless charging technology.

Wireless Charging in iPhone 8?

In another report, Apple is said to be working with Foxconn to mass produce and manufacture the aforementioned wireless charging modules for the iPhone 8. If the rumors are proven to be true, then the incorporation of this technology coincides with the device's 10-year anniversary.

However, this should be taken with a grain of salt. It is still unclear whether the iPhone 8 will actually come with the wireless charging technology. The modules could easily be relegated to another future model, but fans are still hoping for the best.
