The official trailer for "Beauty And The Beast" has debuted online. The new musical-drama, directed by Bill Candon (of "Dreamgirls" and "Mr. Holmes" fame), is a live-action adaptation of the same-name classic, Disney animation feature, released originally in 1991. It tells the tale of an arrogant young prince damned to solitude in his castle and cursed with a horrid, beastly physique.

"Beauty And The Beast" is the latest film to get a live-action adaptation, following the box-office successes of Robert Stromberg's "Maleficent", Kenneth Branagh's "Cinderella" and Jon Favreau's "The Jungle Book". The film is expected to retell the story as popularized by Gary Trousdale and Kirk Wise's classic animation, with Belle, an unsuspecting young woman who walks inside the Beast's and offers herself as an eternal prisoner as an exchange for her father's freedom. Candon works with a screenplay he co-wrote with Evan Spiliotopoulos ("The Huntsman: ") and Stephen Chbosky ("The Perks Of Being A Wallflower").

The trailer, which recently premiered at Good Morning America, shows Emma Watson playing the role of Belle, the woman who will relieve the Beast of his curse. The film also stars Ewan McGregor and Emma Thompson as fan-favorite housewares Lumiere and Mrs. Potts. Being that the film is, mainly, a musical, fans can expect that the film will relive some of the iconic songs that made the original a phenomenal classic. Also, this means that the film's main baddie, the self-absorbed meathead Gaston (played by Luke Evans), will get to make a performance of a song that, aptly, is titled the same as his name.

"Beauty And The Beast" is due out on March 17, 2017.
