Google Play Music News & Updates: New & Improved Version Matches Music With Users’ Current Mood & Activity

Google Play Music recently went through a major revamp, with special focus on context and personalization. The new change in Google Play Music provides users with several options that match their mood at any given time.

Google Play Music Update: New Interface Looks Like Google Now

Elias Roman, lead product manager for Google Play Music, said that Google's mission at a high level is to make the world of information really accessible and useful to people. He added that there is a role for Google Play Music to offer tunes that will relate well to people's different situations.

The new change will reportedly provide a new set of playlists whenever users open Google Play Music. The interface was also overhauled to look a lot like Google Now.

The Verge stated that Google Play Music will offer different music selections depending on the time, day and activity. Google Play Music depends on different datasets linked to the user's Google account to offer the kind of music that people may wish to hear.

Elliot Breece, who also worked on the revamped Google Play Music, said that they wanted the app to feel like a personal DJ who follows the user everywhere, working with information and algorithms. They also intended for the improved app to provide recommendations without requiring listeners to share their activity or mood. As a result, they would provide music to improve people's moods and lives every day.

Google Play Music Update: App Now Smarter, More Assistive, Easier To Use

Google wrote in a blog that the new Google Play Music showcases a fresh take on the music streaming service. They described the enhanced app as smarter, more assistive and easier to use.

Google Play Music will begin rolling out on Android, iOS and web in 62 countries around the world in November 2016. There will be tunes for every type of activity and time of day, such as watching sunsets, working out in the gym or traveling. Compared to other music streaming apps, Google Play Music refreshes its list every time it is opened.

Google Play Music also offers an offline playlist based on what the user listened to recently. People will have constant music even without internet connection. More updates and details on Google Play Music are expected soon.
