‘Half-Life 3’ Release Date, News & Update: Success of ‘Doom’ May Make Valve Announce Game; 20th Anniversary Celebrations in Focus! Gameplay Details!
If reports are to be believed, "Half-Life 3" will be announced pretty soon. It has been more than a decade that Valve has updated its most popular game franchise and fans are a bit apprehensive as they are not sure whether the studio will add one more game to the franchise.
As per MobiPicker, Valve could be making an official announcement for "Half-Life 3" anytime soon. The re-mastered version of the classic first-person shooter "Doom" could be a reason for this. As the founder of Valve, Gabe Newell, loves "Doom," fans expect the success of the game will make Newell go back to the classic series.
However, Valve hasn't yet confirmed anything and this is based on pure fan speculation. There is yet another reason for fans to be upbeat about "Half-Life 3." The franchise is set to complete 20 years in 2018 and releasing the new game is the best possible way to celebrate the franchise's 20 years.
"Half-Life 2: Episode One" came almost a decade ago and the next episode was out in 2007. Even though the third episode was planned, nothing came out to fans' dismay. There were even talks that the "Half-Life 3" would be divided into three short episodes but that was it. No fresh updates or major announcement was made after that.
Arkane Studios was reportedly contacted to develop the next installment but the project was canned due to lack of creativity and Valve said there was nothing new to be introduced to the game. This news left fans heartbroken though they still expect a major turnaround of events. They want "Half-Life 3" project to be taken up once again.
Certain concept arts surface online in 2012 for "Half-Life 2: Episode 3" but Valve never confirmed those drawings. The drawings even included Alyx Vance. Stay tuned on GameNGuide for more updates on "Half-Life 3."
