FX’s 'Taboo': Release Date Announcement, Official Poster, And More!

FX has finally announced the premiere date for one of their new shows, Tom Hardy's "Taboo". The long-gestating period drama has been in the workroom since 2014, and now that everything seems to be settled, FX has shared in the form of a new poster the official premiere date for the series. Take a look:

Created by Tom, his father Edward Hardy, and "Peaky Blinders" writer Stephen Knight. This isn't the first time Tom and Stephen are collaborating; their previous project, the indie-gem "Locke", featured an acclaimed performance from Hardy. Ridley Scott acts as executive producer, and Kristoffer Nyholm ("The Killing") and Anders Engström as directors to helm four episodes each from the eight-part miniseries. Hardy stars alongside an ensemble cast comprised of Oona Chaplin ("Game Of Thrones"), Franka Potente ("Run Lola Run"), and Mark Gatiss ("Sherlock").

"Taboo" follows "an adventurer who returns to Britain from Africa along with fourteen stolen diamonds to seek vengeance after the death of his father." The series premieres on January 10, 2017 at 10 p.m. EST on FX.

The series will add to FX's ever-expanding lineup of upcoming shows of note. First there's "Legion", an adaptation of the beloved Marvel comic created for television by Noah Hawley and starring "The Guest" actor Dan Stevens as David Haller. There's also "Fargo" and "The People v O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story", successes that are, without surprise, FX is looking to replicate.
