‘True Detective’ Season 3 Air Date, Spoilers, News & Update: HBO Chair Reveals Plans For The Show; Find Out Here!
It has been more than a year since the second season of "True Detective" ended on HBO. With a lot of rumors and news, fans are still hoping that they are going to be treated with the renewal of "True Detective" Season 3. In fact, this is supported by, none other than, the network's chief Casey Bloys.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Bloys talked about the future of HBO's number one television shows, "The Night Of" and "True Detective." The president of programming revealed that he definitely wants to renew "The Night Of" Season 2 and hoping that "True Detective" Season 3 will be made this summer.
It was reported that "True Detective" Season 2 received poor ratings compared to its predecessor, thus the coming of "True Detective" Season 3 was affected. However, Bloys said in his interview that he is still interested in the continuation of the Matthew McConaughey lead TV series and "The Night Of" Season 2.
With that, Bloys revealed that "True Detective" Season 3 is now on its development stage along with "The Night Of" Season 2. "They're thinking about ideas, and when they find something, that's when I'll hear from them," he said about the show's showrunners. "I don't have anything to report on either of them other than they're thinking about what the best-next version is."
Meanwhile, it was recently reported that "True Detective" Season 1 director Cary Fukunaga insisted that he has no interest to return to a directorial stint if ever "True Detective" Season 3 comes. In his explanation, he said that he only accepted the first season as he wanted to do a "long format and experiment" on the crime drama genre.
Fukunaga even revealed that he doesn't see himself returning to do another "True Detective" series anytime in the future. So far, HBO hasn't announced anything official about the renewal of "True Detective" Season 3.
