There are rumors that "Red Dwarf" will be coming to LEGO Dimensions in the upcoming "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" playset. A leaked image hinted at the new secret area from the "Red Dwarf" series will be available in the LEGO Dimensions playset, scheduled to arrive later in November 2016.
LEGO Dimensions Update Shows Off Room From "Red Dwarf" Series
Joe Moore, TT Games designer and writer, posted the LEGO Dimensions photo on Twitter, and captioned it, "Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for brick-fast." The image showed what appears to be the living or bunk room from the "Red Dwarf" series.
It would be sensible to access the "Red Dwarf" level through the new TARDIS spot, particularly for players who own the Doctor Who pack. Before, LEGO Dimensions featured Flintstones and Jetsons areas, accessible via the TARDIS spot, although neither brand resulted to an official standalone LEGO playset.
Eurogamer stated that the "Red Dwarf" level appears to be an Easter egg instead of an expansive area. LEGO Dimensions did not feature a "Red Dwarf" playset in the past, but it may be working into an official version, depending on how fans respond to the secret level. Warner Bros. and the people behind the project have yet to confirm the news, but it is very likely to happen, since LEGO Dimensions have introduced other IP into its universe in the past. LEGO may be testing whether there are enough franchise fans looking for an official playset.
"Red Dwarf" To Have A Full LEGO Version Soon?
IGN reported that "Red Dwarf" is a British comedy space-opera that premiered in 1988. The story focuses on Dave Lister, the hologram Arnold Rimmer, Kryten the mech and the evolved feline, Cat.
It is not yet certain whether "Red Dwarf" in LEGO Dimensions will feature a full range of figures or only limited pieces. At present, there is a LEGO "Red Dwarf" set in the official review stage at the LEGO community-driven Ideas site, which could eventually lead to a full LEGO version of the sci-fi series.
The "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" LEGO Dimensions story pack is set to launch on Nov. 18, 2016. More updates and details on "Red Dwarf" and LEGO are expected soon.
