The upcoming 2016 Game Awards is drawing near and games that have enthralled millions of players around the world will be recognized in the annual event. The awards will not only focus on blockbuster titles that have hit the jackpot on the gaming market, it's a mix of big names and some indie titles that have delivered what they were all intended to do: Entertain

The 2016 Game Awards will feature a sheer number of categories. Among the coveted titles include Game of the Year, Best Studio/Game Direction, Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, Best Music/Sound Design, Best Performance, Games for Impact Award and Best Independent Game. Other awards for the fan's choice are also included in the wide range of categories for this year's celebration.

2016 Game Awards: "Uncharted 4," "Firewatch" Lead List Of Nominees

Given the amount of complexity that this year's games offer are quite outstanding. Big titles like "Overwatch," "Uncharted 4" and "Titanfall" are no brainers to be nominated for multiple categories for this year's awards. The list, however, also includes smaller projects like "Inside," "Firewatch," and "Hyper Light Drifter," which by standards are aptly recognized for their excellence.

According to Engadget, two titles are in the mix to dominate this year's nominations. "Firewatch" and "Uncharted 4" are touted to win big because the developers took a higher understanding of how to deliver effective acting, astounding visual art and relatable stories. Both do not only have unique and distinctive visual languages, "Firewatch" and "Uncharted 4," went out of their way to introduce a variation of characters that have lives beyond their expeditious quests.

"Firewatch," has four nominations for different award categories which are the Best Independent Game, Best Narrative, Best Art Direction and Best Performance for a Game Character that nominated 2 of the actors that played game's protagonists. "Uncharted 4," has three of the game's actors nominated for Best Performance for a Game Character and the title is also a nominee for the Game of the Year. The game is also nominated for Best Narrative and Best Art Direction.

2016 Game Awards To Showcase Huge Titles For 2017

The 2016 Game Awards will also feature the most anticipated games that will be released next year. This is part of the Fan's Choice category. In post by Digital Trends, future games that have been nominated include "God of War," "Horizon: Zero Dawn," "Red Dead Redemption," Mass Effect: Andromeda" and "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild."

The 2016 Game Awards will be aired on December 1 and held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Live streaming will be available via the following social media platforms: Twitch, YouTube, Facebook Live and Twitter.
