‘Star Citizen’ Release Date, News & Update: CIG Releases Production Timeline; Highly-Anticipated ‘Alpha 2.6’ Out December 8?

Bidding to prove critics wrong, Cloud Imperium Games released its internal timeline for "Star Citizen's" development. The newly posted production schedule is an attempt to give the gaming community a more comprehensive look on the game's various elements. Modules like the "Arena Commander" and "Star Marine" are shown together with their targeted date of release.

2016 marks the 4th anniversary of "Star Citizen's" initial crowdfunding campaign, and the demand for the game's progress has been the cause of criticisms for CIG and Chris Roberts. Posted on the Roberts Space Industries website is also the target release date of "Alpha 2.6," which is 8th of December.

"So for Star Citizen Alpha 2.6 we're going to share our internal schedule and its breakouts on a weekly basis," according to Roberts' blog. "These are the very same schedules we update daily and are circulated internally on our intra-studio hand-offs...when something changes, slips or is completed, you will know," he subsequently adds.

"Star Citizen" Production Team Asks For Trust & Continued Support

Cloud Imperium Games promises to update fans on "Star Citizen" production schedules on a weekly basis. A thing worth-mentioning however, is that the dates posted along with the modules are merely "estimates." Roberts was quick to assure though that fans will be informed of changes and transparency will be a thing from now on.

The original campaign for "Star Citizen" started in October 12. While the full game isn't out yet, pieces of it have been released, which caused some fans to be irritated when target dates are missed or left unannounced.

More Details On "Star Citizen" Development

The initial target release date for "Star Citizen" has experienced delays for this year alone. Developers reportedly need more time to polish the game, like in the case of "Star Citizen's" single-player game, "Squadron 42."

You can check out more of "Star Citizen" and their 4th Anniversary livestream on Twitch, if you happened to miss it. More updates and game features will be posted in the weeks to come.
