'Rick And Morty' Season 3 Update: Design Assistant Reveals How Far Production Is From Completing 3rd Season; Hints A Spring 2017 Release Date

It looks like “Rick and Morty” Season 3 won’t make it for a December 2016 release. Reports that the show’s design assistant has revealed the show is not even half done and has a long way to go. Although the design assistant did not give a confirmed release date, he hinted its most likely going to be ready three months after New Year.

Early this month, a Reddit user, who claims to be “Rick and Morty” design assistant, said that only 9 of the 14 episodes’ script is completely done and just one episode that’s done with animation. This is in contrast to a report of Cinema Blend wherein Erica Rosbe, show’s writer, said that all the episodes have already been written and a part of it already animated.

According to “Rick and Morty” design assistant, a December release is highly unlikely since there’s still a lot of things to finish and the work is not even half way done. He said that the soonest time possible for the show to air is around March of next year.

The only statement that the “Rick and Morty” writer and the alleged design assistant that matched is that the animation department has not yet finished their part. This is the main reason why the show is not yet ready to air. “the season is written, but the show's animation has been a slow process.” Rosbe explained.

Many are not surprised why the animating process is taking the longest time in completing “Rick and Morty” Season 3. The animated series is known for their unorthodox way of filming each episode which is why the show has earned a great reputation from its fans. For instance, their “retroscripting” wherein animators work with ad-libbed dialogue which makes the show more hilarious but definitely harder for the production team.
