‘True Detective’ Season 3 Air Date, Spoilers, News & Update: HBO Head Reveals Series’ Future; Stars Blamed for Poor Ratings? Plot Details

"True Detective" Season 3 is one of the most anticipated TV shows that are expected to hit the small screen in 2017. The American anthology crime drama television series is already set for another run; however, HBO and the rest of the production team have yet to provide concrete details about its development and air date. Nonetheless, several rumors and speculations suggested that the network might announce that "True Detective" could be cancelled as the production of the new season has yet to start.

During his interview with EW, Casey Bloys, the HBO programming chief, admitted that the production of "True Detective" Season 3 has yet to begin. He added that the writers of the show are not even thinking about the new season as of the moment; however, he is hopeful that he can gather everyone next year and provide good news to the fans.

"They're thinking about ideas, and when they find something, that's when I'll hear from them," says the HBO head about the upcoming "True Detective" Season 3. "I don't have anything to report on either of them other than they're thinking about what the best-snext version is."

There are several speculations suggesting why "True Detective" Season 3 is being delayed by the production team and one those is the poor performance of the second season in terms of TV ratings. The stars in the sophomore run of the series Rachel McAdams, Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn and Taylor Kitsch have all received bad publicity following the show's low ratings.

Despite cancellation rumors, Bloys assured fans that "True Detective" Season 3 is happening. However, the programming chief refused to provide more details about its upcoming development.

Meanwhile, the show's director Cary Fukunaga had already said that he will no longer work for "True Detective" Season 3; however, writer Nic Pizzolatto has already signed another contract with the network, which gives fans hope that another season could happen anytime soon. "True Detective" Season 3 is expected to come back on TV in late 2017 or early 2018.
