A small wisp of his Obscurus was also seen flying away after Gellert Grindelwald was captured. In addition to that, the producers have repeatedly hinted on the survival of Ezra Miller's character, stating that Credence is "quite pivotal" in "Fantastic Beasts 2" (via Mugglenet).
But is it possible that Credence Barebone's return will be somehow connected to a character that briefly appeared in "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them"? There are speculations that Credence will end up working with Gellert Grindelwald, who has also enlisted Leta Lestrange as one of his allies in "Fantastic Beasts 2".
