“Assassin’s Creed” is one of Ubisoft’s most successful game series. It follows historical events from all over the world, giving players a glimpse of them, through the eyes of the Assassin’s Order. Now, the second installment in the series “Assassin’s Creed 2” is getting remastered for PS$ and XBOX One. Is it worth the buy?
Gamespot shares the information of the remaster’s release. “Assassin’s Creed 2” The Ezio Collection will include the original “Assassins’s creed 2” together with the two expansions following it “Brotherhood” and “Revelations”. The price has been set at $60 which is equal to the typical price of a single AAA game, but even though a bargain, is it worth buying? The answer is “Yes”, if you are capable of overlooking a few serious issues, which even though not game breaking, manage to irritate the player.
IGN has released a short video showing the differences between the two versions of the game. While looking at it, the viewers can notice some pretty big differences in visual aspect. The good changes include a higher draw distance with more textures and details to it. The anti-aliasing has been boosted and a lot of the textures of both characters and building have been smoothed out. Also, the art within the remastered game seems to have one idea brighter colors than the original one.
That is as far as praises go. Character models have been worked on and it has never been as apparent as the two cases which Polygon points out. First is that Ezio’s skin has received a lot of work on it. It has been practically bleached white while his lips have been given an unnaturally pinkish to purple color, which makes him resemble a few thing out of which none are living.
The bigger problem is the potato faced, kiwi eyed, pumpkin lipped creature shown in one of the cut scenes. The person who looked normal in the original version, now looks like a cartooned version of a person, with a lot of Jynx influence on his growth.
Among other bugs, there are a climb bug which stop the player from climbing, even though there is no obstacle and the feel of terror as you look into the eyes of the thing.
