Steam Gears Up For First 'The Steam Awards'; Check Out Its Quirky Categories

Steam is gearing up for its very first "The Steam Awards." The said event is in line with Steam's annual Autumn Sale. Check out their unique and quirky categories below.

Following Steam's annual Autumn Sale, the entertainment platform also announced its first awards ceremony intended to honor the best games of the year. Simply called "The Steam Awards," the upcoming event enables gamers and non-gamers alike to nominate and choose the winners.

"The Steam Awards" is set to give away a total of eight awards. Fans are encouraged to nominate and vote for their favorite games. The process is quite simple - visit the game's Steam store page until November 29 and click on the purple "Nominate this game for an award" button. In addition, fans can also enjoy its unique and quirky categories including:

The "Test of Time" Award which commemorates the game that never fails to engage its players despite being launched back in the day. If the player keeps on coming back to play it, then the game is definitely worth the award.

The "I'm Not Crying, There's Something In My Eye" Award is given to a game that has a huge emotional impact on its players. If the game puts its players to tears or emotionally blindsided them, then it's definitely a sure winner in this category.

The "Just 5 More Minutes" Award is intended for a game which will keep its players up all night. A game that is hard to put down and consistently getting extended minutes of gameplay is perfect for this category.

The "Whoooaaaaaa, dude!" Award focuses on a game that will simply blow the player's mind. Whether it's about a crazy plot twist or an epic chain of events, it will definitely fit for this recognition.

The "Villain Most In Need Of A Hug" Award recognizes a game that makes bad guy looks like someone who deserves a hug. If a game makes the player want to hug the evilest character, then it's all good for this category.

The "Game Within A Game" Award celebrates the best mini-game hidden in another game. If a mini-game gets as much attention as the regular game itself, then it's a sure winner for this award.

The "I Thought This Game Was Cool Before It Won An Award" Award is for a game which was not given justice by its marketing team. If a game didn't do well in the market but is a totally cool game after all, then it's about time to give it a proper exposure with this award.

The "Best Use Of A Farm Animal" Award is intended for a game which utilized farm animals the best way possible - farming at its best. The "We Didn't Think Of Everything" Award is dedicated to voters' write-in votes. If a game deserves to win something not listed in the category, the Selection Committee will then create an entirely new category based on the feedback.

"The Steam Awards" nomination process runs from November 23-29 and will give out the awards in December. Stay tuned to GamenGuide for more "The Steam Awards" news and updates!
