Battlefield 4 ‘Levolution’ in multiplayer maps simplified

Since the inception of the next Battlefield title from DICE, there has been widespread speculations about a certain something called ‘Levolution.’ And although nobody was really sure as to what Levolution actually meant, there have been new details revealed about the same, and then some.

At the recently concluded E3, executive producer Patrick Bach was in an interview discussing about the different features and aspects of the new game, the new additions made to the multiplayer maps and, of course, the entire concept of Levolution alongside details about the Commander Mode and scope for the game on tablets.

Among all these, we are guessing that Levolution will surely attract more players, and as far as Levolution in Battlefield 4 is concerned, Bach stated that Levolution is where the environment changes accordingly to significantly affect the gameplay happening. So whenever there’s a big destruction, it not only offers pretty graphics, but also changes the way the players chart out the game.

The concept of Levolution has arrived by combining different in-game features from the past releases and adding new features from what the present generation has to offer. The entire feature adds a dynamic approach to the game and how players look to approach the game. The idea here is to make the optimal use of the environments in fights that will be assisted with detailed graphical output for anything big and small in the in-game maps.

On asked about the theory behind Levolution, which will look to change the maps, Bach responded, as scripted by Gamingbolt: “I think it lies in the nature of Battlefield. You want the environment…games traditionally have been very static and very stale, and gameplay has been suffering from that because you can easily lock down a map if you know exactly how it’s going to play and what it’s going to be about.”

Bach, in the interview, also stressed on the in-game environment and stated that the Levolution will offer a living environment that will also keep on changing the map, the nature of the game. This was done to add that extra into the gameplay because games sometimes tend to suffer if the entire map is static with nothing changing. By adding different variables to the game codes, the developers have not only managed to offer the best graphical output, but also asking gamers to put in more tactical approaches.

He added: “But if you add these Levolution layers – the destruction and different variables – that changes the map and changes the environment, players can use that in a very tactical way. So it’s not only for drama and making the game look better, it’s actually a very tactical choice that you can use it for.”

Battlefield 4 is currently set for an Oct. 29 release in North America for current generation consoles. The PS4 and Xbox One version will be available a little later down the line. Check out the entire interview for more details
