We've all been treated to a lot of different versions of the Star Spangled Banner, from Scott Stapp's atrocious performance to Jimi Hendrix's awe inspiring rendition. Before the Vikings and Lions thanksgiving game, the American audience was treated to an amazing and beautiful performance by Aretha Franklin. It was one of Aretha's best performances as an artist but the social media exploded when it took her too long to wrap up America's National Anthem.

Aretha Sang The Song For 4 Minutes & 30 Seconds

The "Natural Woman" singer sang the song for 4 minutes and 30 seconds, prompting twitter to explode from the reactions of American netizens. According to SB Nation, Twitter was lit by different comments that poked at Aretha's long and soundful performance.

But Aretha's rendition also drew praise from different netizens around the US. First in defence is ESPN's Michelle Beadle that said nobody rushes Franklin, "we've all got time,". According to netizen Jen Baze, "Aretha Franklin just took us to church singing the National Anthem,".


Aretha Franklin Is A Legend In The Music Industry 

Aretha Franklin is an American singer, songwriter and musician that holds the record for the most charted single a female artist has in Billboard. She recorded a total of 112 charted singles that include 77 Hot 100 entries, 17 top ten pop singles, a whopping 100 R&B entries and an impressive twenty number-one R&B singles.

The soulful singer was inducted to the GMA Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2012 and was always described as the voice of "Black America". She is ranked first on Rolling Stones' list of Greatest Singers of All Time.
