General Zod available now for Injustice: Gods Among Us [Trailer]

If you ever wanted to pull the strings of aliens and have two Kryptonian heavyweights go head to head, now's your chance. General Zod is now available for download and ready to force other fighters to kneel before him on NeatherRealm's DC fighter, Injustice: Gods Among Us.

Hailing from the same planet as Superman, General Zod has all the powers and strengths of 'ol Kal-El; ice breath, super strength, speed, flight, etc., which put him on an equal footing with the Man of Steel. But while Supes pulls his punches most of the time to keep from liquefying people, Zod holds nothing back. As a military man, he boasts interesting alien side arms, and no hesitation to use 'em. He's also brought over some fearsome characters from his stay in the Phantom Zone to assist him in battle.

This, coupled with a beard that he's obviously put a great deal of effort into, make Zod an intriguing character to say the least, and you could see where the dictatorial version of Superman could've taken inspiration. When you think about it, he'd probably get along quite well with Zod if the both of them weren't so power hungry.

Zod will set players back $4.99, or 400 Microsoft Points in all.

Zod's obviously the big news, but with the "Man of Steel" villain now ready to go, there's one other summer blockbuster bonus that NeatherRealms is offering up. For 80 MS Points on Xbox 360, or $.99 on PSN, gamers can grab the "Man of Steel" skin for Supes, trading in the classic costume for something a bit more modern-Alien. Even Kryptonians have to be fashion forward.

In addition to Zod, there's also a number of new skins available now for the rest of the Injustice roster: the New 52, Blackest Night 2, and Earth 2 skin packs are all ready to go for the same price as the other skins packs, 240 Microsoft Points each, or $2.99.

The studio has also put out a short trailer on Zod's backstory, which you can check out below.
