"Vikings" Season 5, comes 2017 will unveil the ultimate fall of Ragnar (Travis Fimmel), Scandinavia's legendary terror of France and England in the height of his conquest . While his power and popularity fails in the eyes of the Nordic tribes, the Viking King will witness the rise to power of his two sons, Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) and Ivar the Boneless (Alex Hogh Andersen).

Now filming in Ireland, "Vikings" Season 5 will take off from the deadly battles in Kattegat of Season 4 Part 2. Ragnar returns a wounded man to his tribesmen, a hurt man who will try to win back the trust and confidence of his family and people, according to Gamenguide. He has to deal with the consequences of his past mistakes, the debauchery against his ex-wife Lagertha (Katherine Winnick) and treachery towards his wife Queen Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland).

The story arc of "Vikings" Season 5 is inspired by the famous Nordic legend of the conquests of the Vikings in medieval times. Ragnar will be portrayed as an ageing man, tired of his conquests and defeats, while being surrounded by enemies, from within his family, tribesmen and distant lands. The farmer turned warrior - conqueror and ending up as King, cannot hold on to power anymore.

According to Auditionsfree, the producers of the show are reported to have fast tracked the audition of more than a thousand extras for the filming in Dublin. The show runner Michael Hirst in an interview revealed that the series is also getting in other local stars and talents. "Vikings" Season 5 is expected to be shown in the later part of 2017. Meanwhile, part 2 of the season 4 will return for its big premiere on November 30, 2016 on Wednesday evening at the History Channel.
