‘Halo Wars 2’ Release Date, Gameplay, News & Updates: Blitz Mode Included; New Characters, Game Plot Revealed; More Details Here!

"Halo Wars 2" will not be released until February 2017, but there is already too much hype about the game. New characters, new elements and futuristic plot are going to be included in the upcoming "Halo Wars" installment.

Plot and New Characters

"Halo Wars 2" will take place 28 years after the events of the previous game in the in-game Halo Universe. "Halo Wars" ended with the UNSC crew undergoing into cryosleep as they floated into space. On the other hand, "Halo Wars 2" will start the game with the UNSC crew on board the Spirit Fire Ship and waking from cryosleep in the Ark, the space where Halo rings are made by Forerunners.

The new game will have two redesigned characters, James Cutter and Anders, the main protagonists of the game. The characters are reported to be more dramatic and emotional, making them more real. A new villain called Atriox, the leader of the Banished, is also introduced in "Halo Wars 2". Atriox is a merciless and sadistic leader to the mercenary group who is the primary nemesis of the Covenant before the great Schism.

New Elements Incorporated in the Game

According to Dan Ayoub, head of strategy games development in 343 Industries and David Nicholson, Creative Assembly executive producer, the "Halo Wars 2" is developed with eSports in mind. Gamers are always looking forward to eSports and are demanding that in most games, thus the developers found it best to provide the game with tools that will make it into an eSport game.

The new Blitz mode in "Halo Wars 2" is one of the modes in the game that is reported to have a competitive potential. It has elements of a digital card game like "Hearthstone" mixed with MOBA-type RTS gameplay. According to Ayoub, "A deathmatch mode can last easily two hours, and that can be a little tricky from a viewing perspective, whereas we've seen Blitz matches end in as little as four minutes, which kind of lets you do a few interesting things."
