Feel free to fire your Deus Ex: The Fall weapons on your jailbroken devices, game patched

After not warning players about a big restriction in the mobile only Deus Ex: The Fall, Eidos Montreal has patched a feature that wouldn't allow players to fire guns if they were playing the game on jailbroken devices.

Jailbreaking is a term describing removing system locks to access software that isn't permitted by Apple. Basically, it's a backdoor method, and about the worst thing it can do is void the warranty on your device.

Until today, players who tried to fire weapons while playing The Fall were given the message, "We are sorry but you can't fire on jailbroken devices." It's thought the reason for disabling firing in the first place was put in place to curb piracy, however, even players who bought the game legally and legitimately were unable to fire weapons in the game.

After not providing players with the information that this feature would be included, the development team promised an update was fast approaching that would fix the issue, and so, here we are.

Alongside the weapon fix, Eidos threw in a host of balancing tweaks as well. Here are the official patch notes according to a post on the Eidos Montreal site:

- Restriction on weapon firing which affected jailbroken devices have been removed;
- Improved enemy AI reaction and combat behaviour;
- Increased XP rewards for completing objectives;
- Increased the amount of credits gained as rewards, across the game;
- Improved damage and accuracy stats for the Combat Rifle;
- Increased accuracy of Shotguns for better mid-range effectiveness;
- Reduced some weapon costs (including high-end Plasma Rifles and Rocket Launchers).

Rather than a direct sequel to Human RevolutionThe Fall actually takes place after the events of the book "The Icarus Project," which served as a Human Revolution prequel of sorts, intertwined with characters and events from Human Revolution

Players take on the role of the book's protagonist Ben Saxon, former SAS and Belltower employee who underwent heavy augmentation and joined the Tyrants, a paramilitary group made up of augmented mercenaries who served as the primary antagonists in Human Revolution. In the book, Saxon is predictably betrayed by them.

Deus Ex: The Fall earned high praise recently, being awarded with "Best Mobile/iOS Game" of E3 2013 by a slew of different outlets. It's currently available on all iOS mobile devices for $6.99.
