MetalWars3 for iOS: The future is bright for Goorusoft [REVIEW]

Firstly, MetalWars3 is a big time improvement from its predecessors. The last two games, in the span of four years, were hopeless. However, time changes and so does everything with it. Developers evolve from their past mistakes and bring out something that's a clear-cut contrast, and MetalWars3 is one such iOS title.

To sum up the story in simpler words, it's about the future where the nations have formed an alliance together only to fall apart and continue in their selfish ways. However, the future doesn't involve human-based combat, but mechs.

The game makes use of both high resolution textures and the latest shaders, offering realistic battle grounds and dramatic graphic-effects. The mechs have been armed with more than 40 of weapons and parts with more than 20 stages across multiple modes and battles in infinity mode.

MetalWars3's gameplay is unique and makes the player utilize the most out of in-game customizations and weapon management, something very similar to the popular MechWarrior. As the levels move ahead, so do the options of including better parts to the player's mech. But enhanced gear can be obtained and researched provided the player is willing to sweat it out a bit by competing in tougher missions. The game has only one simple rule: Make sure you are the last one left and there are no red dots on the horizon (or the radar).

Apart from the impressive gameplay functionality of MetalWars3, the game is actually a treat for the eyes. And the best part, although the graphics look slick, that doesn't mean that the gameplay will falter, and the game truly excels in that. The controls are responsive with increased number of weapons and parts to choose from (both for the player's mech and one controlled by the AI) and transform into the real destructive machine it's supposed to.

Another interesting aspect about the game is its Research Lab. "It is crucial for winning pilots to develop all sorts of weapons, fire controllers, defensive equipments and engines, for which more than 40 of parts are offered. You can customize your mech, such as high mobility type, heavily armored type or fireflaming type, along with your combat style, researching proper parts."

The Research Lab is basically a tree-like chart detailing the player about the unlockable parts and later spend his XP to research those parts. However, what really is a big blow to all common gamers is the fact that once they are done with researching parts, they will need gold to construct it and make it a reality.

Now we are really admiring the game itself, but this is too much. Not only does this affect the player's concentration but also slows down the overall in-game progression. While moving ahead with missions, players may also feel a bit bored owing to how slow the game can turn. And that too even during a fight.

MetalWars3 is no doubt a huge improvement than what it was about four years ago, but cannot be listed under the likes of great games. However, one thing's for sure: The developers have evolved and set their sights on the right direction. And if everything goes well, the future of this franchise is bright with better (and fast) gameplay.
