New Borderlands 2 DLC announced, includes throwback missions to Zombie Island of Dr. Ned

PAX Australia kicked off this weekend, and Gearbox president Randy Pitchford had a very special announcement for the world of Borderlands 2.

As promised, DLC for the game isn't done yet, not by a long shot. New DLC is set to release for the game this fall. The only downfall is that it won't be part of the game's Season Pass.

The DLC, dubbed The Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2, offers 11 levels, a new map called the Digistruct Peak Challenge, lets players change game difficulty outside of their character level, and ups the level cap to 72.

That's not the end either. Pitchford also has plans to bring in "two or three" Headhunter Packs in the future, which will bring back some familiar faces from the first Borderlands game. One mentioned was T.K. Baha's Bloody Harvets, which will have players square off against the one legged loner from The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, one of the DLCs from the first game. A battle with a character named Jacques O'Lantern is also planned, and given the namesake, gives us an idea as to when we can expect some of these additions to arrive.

Exact prices for the Headhunter packs haven't been determined yet, but the UVH Pack will set gamers back $5.00 Future plans include extra bank slots, the ability to carry more ammo, and more. We'll keep you posted once Gearbox makes any other official announcements.

If you still haven't yet bothered to pick up Borderlands 2, at this point, I'm not sure what else there is to say to convince you.

Apart from the massive amount to keep yourself preoccupied with in the campaign, with Borderlands 2 DLC so far, we've seen scurvy skags and sand skiffs on Captain Scarlett and her Pirate's Booty, a monster truck style campaign chock full of 'splosions with Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage, a trek through Pandora's deepest jungles in Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt, and finally, a lively D&D styled meta-game of Bunkers & Badasses in Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep.

Throw in the fact that even more is on the way, and you've officially run out of excuses to join the ranks of Pandora's many, many, many Vault Hunters.
