Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is one of the most anticipated tech releases in 2017; however, Microsoft has yet to provide concrete details with regard to its development and release date. During its company event that happened in early October, Microsoft launched its most powerful portable computer to date, the Microsoft Surface Book i7.

However, many fans were disappointed when the Redmond-based company failed to announce the much awaited Microsoft Surface Pro 5. Now, new reports have emerged suggesting that the new hybrid laptop will carry almost the same specs as the new Surface Book i7 once it comes out in the market early next year.

According to the report, the upcoming Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will certainly give consumers something to think about once they decide to shop for a new laptop in 2017. The report says that although the new device will carry a smaller 12.3 inch screen compared to the 13.5 inches of the Surface Book i7, it will most likely have the same display technology. It is expected to have 3:2 aspect ratio of screen display, which has the capability to support full 4K video output.

The new Microsoft Surface Book i7 is powered by the powerful Intel Skylake processor paired with advanced specs under the hood. However, there are speculations suggesting that the new Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will run on Intel's next generation core processor, Kaby Lake CPU. Just like the new Surface Book i7, the new Surface Pro 5 will also carry advanced specs under the hood paired with a much improved battery system, which was a major problem when its predecessor was released in 2015.

Meanwhile, the base unit of the new Microsoft Surface Boo i7, which carries 8GB of RAM and has a storage capacity of 256 GB, is currently being sold at $2,399. Industry observers predict that the upcoming Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will arrive in the market with a much cheaper $899 price tag for its entry unit. Stay tuned for more news and updates about Microsoft Surface Pro 5.
